In the last two weeks I’ve had three clients send me resumes written by other writing agencies.
They are appalling. One spelt the client’s name wrong.
Another has got the client’s mobile phone number wrong. How will a recruiter contact them?
All three resumes suffer from the unforgivable crime of CUTTING and PASTING.
When a resume writer constructs a resume by cutting and pasting, they have disengaged from thinking.
They have taken your money and they are plagiarising the resume and/or cover letter.
This sticks out to recruiters and employers like ‘dogs balls’.
The resume won’t be read and you have lost your money by hiring someone who is cheating.
Every candidate’s experience is different. Their skills and capabilities are different. Their career history will be very different. There is no ‘one size fits all’.
This unique information has to be captured.
The best resumes are crafted. They are built from the ground up.
It’s more time consuming than hiring someone to copy and paste information but that’s what you’re paying them for.
You’re paying for the professionalism and experience of the writer to create the best resume they can. Your working life may depend on it.
