Adelaide is a very small place

Non-payer does a runner

We rarely get clients who don’t pay – except for Jason Williams.

His most recent job was as a mechanical fitter for High Impact Solutions at Roxby Downs.

“Just wondering if I can get a resume done up i have one atm but needs more?” Williams wrote.

He sent his resume as a locked PDF and the first thing we noticed was he included very old tickets and there was no career history but on LinkedIn we can see he rarely lasted more than 12 months in a job.

I sent him the quote and how we’d turn his junk resume into a personal marketing document.

“I’m happy with that and I’d like to go ahead with it what’s the payment details and I’ll also today some time sit down a write a description and what I did while I was working at each company, ” Williams wrote.

I attached the resume account and asked him to pay within 24 hours.

“Will do” he replied.

We even sent him a new draft of page one with some questions.

I sent two emails and a text to follow up but we never heard from Jason Williams again.

Keep in mind we only exist to help people get jobs or promotions.

So when people stitch us and waste our time, we get a bit upset.

Consider if you are an employer and Jason rolls up. Do you reckon the employer will regard him as an ethical worker or just in it for what he can get?

Can an employer trust Jason to do the job or should he keep an eye on him?

We run a deadline-focused business and we’re trying to get people a job.

We’re former senior recruiters, journalists and professional writers, who work closely with recruiters and employers. Adelaide is a small place.

Break copy or payment deadlines without notification and we terminate immediately. Why?

  1. It shows the client isn’t professional.
  2. It shows he or she can’t manage their time.
  3. It shows getting a job is low on their list of priorities.
  4. It disrespects the writer or writers.
  5. It attacks our business model.
  6. It wastes time we could have spent helping people who are desperate to get a job or a promotion.

We rarely get people who do a runner.

Because, as I said, Adelaide is a small place.
