Systems driven by artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT, are being used by job applicants to write resumes and cover letters.
Recruiters warn that AI-generated content may hinder an applicant, particularly when it inflates the candidate’s experience and skills – which is what people do anyway.
Keep in mind that recruiters are at the front line of job scams and are accused of using age prejudice and personal bias when assessing resumes and interviewing candidates.
“I had a candidate email me and it was robotic, so I did wonder if they were using AI to answer my questions,” Gold Coast-based recruiter Kelly Charity said.
It could also be the client’s 500th job application they had sent out that month, to which no recruiter replied.
The Australian HR Institute confirmed hirers also used AI to screen large numbers of job applications by identifying keywords and phrases before moving candidates to the next round.
Which makes one wonder what recruiters actually do.
The greatest boon AI could deliver would be to get rid of recruiters.
