Every now and then we get a client who not only has no results on a resume but can’t remember what they have achieved in a job.
This is much like a professional footballer playing a game and not remembering how many kicks he or she had or how many goals kicked.
I’m old enough to remember the days of rocking up to work, doing a job (many were fairly menial), clocking off and saying, ‘see ya later’.
Much of it had to do with disengaging much of my brain and just putting in the hours.
If I encapsulated that thinking in a resume, I’d be dead meat, swinging in the job market.
But every now and then I’d have a brainwave on how to level a sloping drive or stack boxes in a store so they were easy to access.
These results not only earned me a pat on the back but sometimes more pay (one usually had to kick a few goals to get that).
Results are what employers look for. The rest are duties, which are padding.
